Seasoned Executive Brock Alston to Head Up Company's Sales Organization as It Expands to Meet Industry Demand from Companies That Rely on Hadoop
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Pepperdata (www.pepperdata.com), a software company that allows companies to rely on Hadoop, today announced that Brock Alston has joined the company as vice president of sales. Most recently he worked at Pivotal, and has more than 20 years of experience in business and enterprise software sales with a proven track record of exceeding sales goals while helping customers become more profitable and efficient. Alston will be responsible for expanding Pepperdata's sales organization as industry demand for Hadoop is at an all-time high.
"I'm excited to join Pepperdata at a key time in the company's growth. At Pivotal, I saw first-hand how much companies want to rely on Hadoop to support big data initiatives," said Alston. "Throughout my career, I've worked with enterprise customers to help them achieve a better bottom line. I look forward to building upon Pepperdata's solid foundation that is a result of a unique and tested vision and high market demand, as well as helping businesses further capitalize on their Hadoop investments."
Previously serving as sales director for Pivotal Inc. and EdgeSpring, Alston helped companies like Pandora, SuccessFactors, Intacct, Demandbase, DocuSign, Lithium, and Netflix achieve their business goals. And for the past 17 years, he has managed teams of 40 sales reps that not only delivered on – but exceeded – sales goals by as much as 240 percent. While his career has primarily been in sales, Alston began his career as a rocket scientist and holds a BS from Purdue University.
"Brock is a perfect addition to our team and culture," said Sean Suchter, co-founder and CEO of Pepperdata. "Our vision is about so much more than delivering quality software; it's about helping businesses take a technology like Hadoop and make it even better so they can rely on it to run their most critical enterprise applications. Brock's experience fits perfectly with not only where we are headed as a company, but where the market is headed as a whole."
Pepperdata delivers predictability, increasing performance, and visibility for business-critical Hadoop jobs on existing clusters running multiple applications. Pepperdata's software makes every Hadoop node more efficient, allowing companies to run more jobs on the existing infrastructure. Pepperdata was founded in 2012 by Sean Suchter and Chad Carson, former Yahoo executives whose groups were the first two users of Hadoop in production even before it was called Hadoop.
