Unfortunately, Janko lost Monday to fourth seed, Spaniard David Ferrer, in a nearly four hour slugfest. The 29-year-old took a moment out his busy schedule to answer a few questions from Healthy Hollywood.

Healthy Hollywood: How do you prepare for a grand slam tournament, like the U.S. Open?

Janko Tipsarevic: Every year we go down to Miami for a week of practice to get [used] to the heat. It's one of my favorite cities and it
has worked for me in the past.

HH: Some players have pre-game rituals to keep them focused or as part of their routine, do you? if so, can you share?

Janko: I like to be alone; sometimes with music, sometimes without. But generally (after talking to my team) I like being alone.

HH: To keep in good shape, can you describe your workout routine? What sort of exercises do you do and why? What is a typical day of training like?

Janko: In Miami, it was hard core practice – five to six hours a day. My coach knew that we had time before my first match so he could really push me to the limit – three to four hours of tennis and two hours of fitness. Once the tournament starts, the practice times dramatically [decrease] because you need to be fresh for a few "best of five" sets.

HH: How important is nutrition to your game/well-being?

Janko: [A] few years ago I did a ‘food intolerance test,' which shows what kind of substances are bad for my body. So I try to stick to the regime. It was hard in the beginning, but like everything in life, you get used to it. Nutrition is a very important part of tennis and I take it very seriously.

HH: What sort of qualities do you need to be champion athlete?

Janko: A great player always wants to improve, be better and is never fully satisfied.

HH: Finally, any advice you can share for young kids who dream of going professional one day?

Janko: Keep dreaming big. Practice hard. Play harder. And stay humble.
