Could the next ‘American Idol' be from Knoxville?

Then, make plans to be in downtown Knoxville, Friday, August 23 when "American Idol" XIII arrives in town during the second-annual "American Idol" Audition Bus Tour.

AI representatives are searching coast to coast for the next superstar.  The bus will stop in downtown Knoxville at Krutch Park.  Auditions will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Those interested auditioning are asked not to arrive at the audition location overnight.  No preregistration is available, according to production guidelines.

The competition is open to hopeful singers ages 15 to 28 years old.  Those under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Two forms of ID (one with photograph) are required.  Potential contestants must also complete a Personal Release form as well.

Additionally, hopefuls can audition at, by submitting an audition video online. Entrants should demonstrate their stellar singing ability by performing a song of their choice a cappella. Videos are limited to one submission per person. Please visit  for submission rules and terms and conditions.
