The Foothills Community Players will present musical comedy "Nunsense" at the Clayton Center for the Arts for five performances May 9-12.
Dubbed "A lively 'nun-stop" musical," by the New York Times, "Nunsense" concerns the comic misadventures of five nuns: ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert, who try valiantly and with much hilarity to stage a talent show to raise some emergency funds for their convent.
The popular show by Dan Goggin stands as the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history, was adapted for television starring Rue McClanahan, and has spawned six sequels and three spin-offs.
Evening performances are Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, at 6 p.m. Matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, are at 2 p.m. The Clayton Center for the Arts is located at 502 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy. in Maryville.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students with college ID. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are $12. Tickets are available at the Clayton Center box office at 865-981-8590 or for purchase online at http://www.claytonartscenter.com for an additional service fee.
