Fans of "New Girl" love to watch the growing chemistry between series stars Zooey Deschanel (as Jess) and Jake Johnson's Nick, and the actor says the dynamics of their on-screen relationship are about to change.
"There's a big Nick-Jess development [on its way]," Nick told Entertainment Weekly's Inside TV blog of an upcoming episode.

While he wasn't at liberty to share too many details, the actor hinted Nick and Jess' relationship may take a romantic turn quickly (though Nick is currently dating Angie, played by Olivia Munn, while Jess just reunited with Sam, played by David Walton).
"I think something potentially could happen sooner rather than later," he said, adding that the episode is "probably two months from airing."

"It's kind of sexy-pants," he added with a laugh.
Jake also praised Zooey (who earned a Golden Globe nomination this week for her portrayal of the "adorkable" Jess), for helping to steer the FOX comedy in the right direction from get-go.
"I think Zooey understood what the show was at the beginning. The show launched on her shoulders," he said.
