Children's Theatre of Knoxville will present the classic adventure tale "Treasure Island," for 13 performances, Thursdays through Sundays from August 17 through September 1.
The COMPLETE PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE is:
Young Jim Hawkins discovers an old map in a sea chest, left behind by the mysterious Billy Flint. The map shows the spot where Flint and his men used to bury their treasures over the years. Jim enlists the help of his best friend Violet Livesay, a rich boy from Southampton named Trip Trelawney, and a young sailor from Exeter named Alex Smollett to mount a sailing expedition to recover the treasure. But the crew, led by First Mate Long John Silver, has other plans… they are actually pirates and plan to take the treasure from the intrepid adventurers, once they arrive on the deserted island.
"Treasure Island" is a grand tale of adventure on the high seas, full of suspense, humor and hair-raising adventure. The play also speaks wisely to the issues of trust and betrayal. Robert Louis Stevenson's yarn continues to delight readers of all ages, and seeing it come to life onstage promises to be an unforgettable experience.
